I’m Voting President Obama for the Second Time

Since I came to United States in 1996, I only voted once with Barack Obama on the very top of the ballot.  Tonight is my second time to vote for him.

The first time I voted for Mr. Obama was for a single reason —- Change.  Back then the euphoria was high as the wind of change swept across the continental US, and ultimately, catapulting Mr. Obama to presidency.

It’s no-brainer.  Folks from all walks of life embraced the charismatic Senator from Illinois because of possible “Change” mainly on two fronts — War and Economy.  We all wanted change for the better.

I Voted President Obama

A lot of Americans, especially the youth, were fed up with devastating two wars and the gripped of economic upheaval.  The collapsed of financial institution cascaded down affecting large number of families, grappling with home foreclosure and unemployment.  They found solace in the new “Hope” promised by the newly elected president, Mr. Barack Obama.

So President Obama, together with Democrats in the Upper and Lower House, spearheaded the so-called Change and Hope.  The Universal Health Care or Obama Care, as from other aisle puts it, was passed into law; The war was set its end date;  The financial institution has been revitalized;  And the business community started to spring back, though in a much slower pace.  In short, the impeding doom of total Economic Depression has been mitigated and later was cancelled out.

But after couple years of his presidency, something happened.  Republicans and a group of fiercely uncompromising Tea Party took over the House.   And Mr. Obama found himself negotiating to other party who basically would only say “NO” to almost anything on the table.  Compromise — the core ingredient of negotiation has been discarded.  Then, on top of that, the adversarial bickering of the two parties has been set on the high boiling point.  The Republican hardliners simply detested President Obama and couldn’t wait for the next election on November 2012.

Presidential Election 2012

So here we come today — Election day, November 6, 2012.   After the long and arduous campaign, Republicans have now a chance to unseat President Barack Obama.  At the same time, this is the day for those who still believe on the President to vote for the second time, and let him continue the unfinished “Change”.

And this is my second time to vote in the US electoral process as well.   Actually, at the beginning of campaign season, I was rooting for Mitt Romney (read my earlier blog).  It’s not because I hated or disapproved Mr. Obama.  But rather, I would like to see this great nation to move forward in the future.  I wondered, perhaps, Mr. Romney as President could sort out the problem in the House, and the hardliners would somehow come to compromise with him.  He is a Republican after all.

However, as the campaign rolls on, it shows Mr. Romney is out of touch with middle class Americans.  I also could not term with his constant bragging of repealing the Obama Care, which we all know he instituted a similar law in Massachusetts when he was a governor.  And he’s not been consistent on some important issues. I don’t need to list the rest.  All I can say… “Change” has happened.

Instead of Mr. Romney, I’m voting President Obama tonight.

Oh yes, this is for the second time.
