Basehunters captured an amazing supercell thunderstorm between Wright and Newcastle, Wyoming, USA

 

Basehunters, a team of storm chasers, has captured an epic supercell thunderstorm as it form and disappear between Wright and Newcastle, Wyoming, USA on May 18, 2014.  Watch this time-lapse video. It’s incredibly amazing!

 

 

Founded by Colt Forney, Kevin Rolfs, Scott Peake, and Isaac Pato — Basehunters, originally based in Oklahoma, has been chasing and recording storms.  Their Facebook page says, “to share their chase photography and videography with the world.”

And their mission?

well, not much… only  “To seek out severe weather and to boldly go where no chaser has gone before.”

What????

Yeah, you read it right!

According to the National Weather Service, supercell thunderstorms “are responsible for nearly all of the significant tornadoes produced in the U.S. and for most of the hailstones larger than golf ball size. Supercells are also known to produce extreme winds and flash flooding.”  (via: nydailynews)
