Staudinger+Franke, a Vienna-based photography studio, elevated the portraiture photography to a whole new level. The studio created a portrait series titled Barrier, capturing the models’ faces just under the water surface. The water and its ripples, coupled with colorful aquatic life, and the incredibly melancholic facial expressions with eyes closed or staring blank at you, seemingly lifeless — all these artistic elements have transformed the portraits into somewhat eerie and haunting, yet stunningly beautiful images.
