Shania McDonagh Wins Texaco Children’s Art Competition. Her pencil drawing of “Coleman” is Stunningly Hyper-Realistic.
Shania McDonagh, a very talented 16-year old student, is the winner of this year Texaco Children’s Art Competition in Ireland.
Shania’s entry titled “Coleman” is just a pencil drawing, yet so amazingly real. At a glance, you’d probably think it is a black and white photo of an old man.
Here’s the “Coleman” in all its glory:
Prof. Declan McGonagle, the judging panel’s chairman and director of the National College of Art & Design, considered the 16-year old winner “as one of the most talented artists of her generation, and one whose skill could see her become one of Ireland’s foremost portrait artists of the future.”
Shania is a student at Mount St Michael’s Secondary School in Claremorris.
She will be honored in June with a cash prize of €1,500.
