Dennis McNett carves animal figures into large wooden canvas — Fierce looking yet amazingly beautiful creatures
Dennis McNett, a Brooklyn-based artist, draws and carves animal figures into large pieces of wood. He then paints the wooden carvings with sharp, vivid colors, revealing the remarkable details and beauty of fierce looking animals such as wolves and snakes. McNett’s amazing talent and imagination had begun to take root in his childhood, nurtured by his blind grandfather. The old man planted a seed of confidence into the artist’s young mind, telling him over and over again that his drawings were good. Since then he’s been creating nothing but good artwork. Actually… very good and extraordinary!

Artist Statement:
Dennis McNett was born in 1972 and grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He moved to New York in 2001. He has been carving surly block prints for over 18 years. His encouragement as a kid came from his blind grandfather, who told him over and over again that his drawings were good. Later influences came from the raw high-energy imagery pouring out of the early 80’s skateboard and punk rock scene.
