Sandro Miller recreates iconic photos with John Malkovich

World-renowned photographer Sandro Miller collaborated with his Hollywood A-lister friend, John Malkovich, to recreate some of the iconic photos in a series titled Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters.

Miller first met Malkovich at Steppenwolf Theatre Company during a photo session, more than 17 years ago. Since then they’ve been friends, and have collaborated with various personal projects, from short films to photography. And in 2013, Miller decided to create a series honoring all photographers that have greatly influenced his career. With the help of his trusted friend, who has never said no to him, the amazing series Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich was born!

Please scroll down and enjoy John Malkovich mimicking some of the most famous iconic portraits in history.  I assure you — The work is par excellence!

In a statement sent via email, Miller writes about Malkovich:

“For me, John is a beautiful clean canvas ready for paint. He is extremely open minded, never fearful and always willing to go to places most actors of his caliber would avoid. He is a genius willing to take chances, with a talent that allows him to become anything I ask. His willingness to play dress up, and become the subject of some of the most iconic images from history, is a true gift.”

The images include the famous scientist Albert Einstein sticking out his tongue, photographed by Arthur Sasse; Annie Leibovitz’s iconic image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono;  Marilyn Monroe in Pink Roses from The Last Session by Bert Stern; David Bailey’s photograph of Mick Jagger in a fur hood; Dorothea Lange’s image of a migrant mother; among many others.

To see more of Sandro Miller’s work, please visit his Website and Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago, where the series is currently on exhibit through January 31, 2015. It will then travel to Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Paris and Italy.
