Xavier Puente Vilardell’s Sculpture: The art of wood carving, twisting and curling

Xavier Puente Vilardell, a sculptor based-in Brussels, carves, twists and curls a block of wood into something amazingly beautiful. His series of wood pine sculptures are meticulously carved with unique, elegant features. What makes his artwork truly creative is his respect of life and nature. He says, “Working with wood requires a deep respect for the living being that is necessary to understand its inner nature and characteristics that give a certain personality.”

“My work is the result of a very deep and sincere feeling. It lets matter find its own expression though a passionate interaction with the artist. The outcome evidences a strong Mediterranean tradition, where carved holes in the wood turn into light beams caressing amazing shapes.”
